Camp Okotipi

Camp Okotipi

We all have our traditions and camp is one of my family's nearest and dearest. South of Hannibal along the bluffs of the Mississippi sits Camp Oko-tipi. It's a YMCA camp established in the 1930's. It's no longer operated by the Y but still serves as camp to many families like mine and various youth and church organizations. It's pretty cheap to rent and could sleep 100+ if needed. There's only between 25 and 35 of us any given year, although new additions to our camp fam are on the way. This is our 20th year at camp! Our parents started taking us when we were kids. I've known these girls my whole life and as we've grown, married, and multiplied we've come back with our own families. This year has been so fun watching our kids run around together and entertain each other, as we finally have a half a dozen passed the baby-stage, with two pre-teens to keep a watchful eye! Getting older does have it's benefits.
