The Section House

The Section House

We've done it. The Section House, Jason and I's last home, is on the MLS. It took more work and WAY more time than I had hoped. I think initially we were on a 4-6 week timeline, pishh. Double that. It looks great now though. I have had more design work (which I'm over the moon about) than I had anticipated during this time and I'm a semi full time mommy. Jude is at St. John's M/W/F til three, Beck gets out at 11:30 each day, and Oliver is home around 3:45 on weekdays. My child free time is limited and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that toddlers plus paint are a disastrous combo. Time constraints aside, I enjoyed the project. Many late nights were spent there listening to Stuff You Should Know on podcast. I know more stuff now than before, that's for certain. For instance, have you ever wondered "How Porta Potties Work?" Yeah me neither, but I know now.

The project mostly consisted of remedying small things found in the inspection, like a leak in the roof and a big thing, the nearly collapsed garage. The leak was no big deal at all,  but the garage sucked, It took Fred (my carpenter) a week to right it and shore it up plus put in a brand spanking new garage door, that I pinched my fingers in yesterday. It's awesome now, I sure wish I could move it down here to my house. Also, I painted and painted and painted some more. Patched random holes in the baseboard and put covers on the heating vents. As well as replaced light fixtures and put hardware on the cabinets. Oh yeah and the powder room, which I always disliked when we lived there and had been made worse by a hunter orange "accent" wall in a room with zero natural light.

This is the slow time for real estate but I remain hopeful because really it's as cute as a button, with a river view! Come on little family buy this house, we loved the shit out of it while we fit.

A few before pictures I could find. I suck so bad at taking 'befores". Does it hurt my delicate sensibility to document unsightly things?? Nah, I'm just disorganized af.

You get the idea, same lighting conditions that I took the "after' under. If this isn't a case for painting your home in neutrals, I can't help you.
